Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs about Oak Storage – access hours, payments, unit sizes, security, and how to rent or reserve a storage unit in the Waco area.

Do I have 24/7 access to my storage unit?

Yes. Once your rental is active and your account is in good standing, you have 24/7 access to your storage unit.
This allows you to move items on your schedule—early mornings, evenings, or weekends—without being restricted to office hours.

What security features does the Elm Mott facility have?

Oak Storage in Elm Mott is a newer, purpose-built facility, not a converted or aging property. Key features include:

  • Controlled gate access
  • Bright automatic lighting throughout the facility
  • Clear drive lanes and unit numbering for visibility
  • Secure perimeter fencing

These features are designed to improve safety and overall peace of mind.

Is Oak Storage newer than other facilities nearby?

Yes. Oak Storage was built more recently than many nearby facilities, which means a cleaner layout, modern access systems, and more consistent unit quality.

How does billing work?

Billing is typically based on your move-in anniversary date, rather than automatically billing on the first of the month.
If you prefer billing on the 1st, contact us and we can usually accommodate that request.

What happens if my payment is late?

Accounts that become past due are subject to a 10% late fee.
If you anticipate an issue with payment, contacting us early is always recommended.

Are rentals month-to-month?

Yes. All units are rented on a month-to-month basis with no long-term contracts required.

What type of lock should I use?

We recommend a round disc-style (discus) lock.
It’s harder to cut than a standard padlock because the shackle is not exposed.

What items are not allowed in storage units?

For safety and legal reasons, the following items may not be stored:

  • Flammable or hazardous materials (gasoline, propane, fireworks, chemicals)
  • Perishable food
  • Live animals
  • Stolen or illegal items
  • Firearms or ammunition
  • Fuels or explosives

If you’re unsure about an item, contact us before storing it.
